"Retrofitting 2015 Into A Vinyl Groove"

I'm Your Vinyl, An Epic Music Video and The Grooviest House in Ireland

"Are you ok to do another take?" the director asks a weary Dana Donnelly at the tail end of a mammoth day of shooting and still facing a 3 hour drive back to Dublin. "Of course!" she replies with bewitching smile that hadn't left her face all day. The ambition and work ethic of their vocalist/guitarist is one of the many weapons 'I'm Your Vinyl' wielded on their enviable tour schedule last year. The highlights including The Longitude Festival and Electric Picnic. Under the watchful eye of multi instrumentalist Ken McHugh, the enthusiastic pair have their sights set on retrofitting 2015 into a vinyl groove.

A talisman IYV have recently obtained on their journey is a slickly produced music video for their new single 'Erase It'. The post-breakup anthem combines all of the band's signatures: bright, uplifting melodies, and rich cinematic overtones coupled with hypnotic and seductive beats. The song tells the tale of a woman who is unappreciated and cheated upon by her boyfriend whom she promptly dumps him at the end of the first verse. The catchy chorus is the feminist refrain "Erase you from my head, I'll erase you from my bed. I'll erase it. I'll erase it."

To visualise the retro feel of the song the Dublin duo employed the Rebel County's Epic Productions. The Cork team had their own victories in 2014, pollinating a reputation outside their own county, and country, producing a music video for the American Hip Hop group 'The LEL Brothas' and a music video for Irish star Julie Feeney debuting on the USA Today website. Strongly believing the indie pop tune was destined to be a radio hit, Epic jumped at the chance to bring the song to life.

The first port of call was Bubble Room Studios in Cork City. Armed with a wardrobe selection that would make Mr. Benn blush, Dana tirelessly danced and sang before an enraptured green screen and a captive crew. The high energy/high socks cut aways and black & white group dance numbers spiral neatly around the video's rhapsodic pace. The piece de resistance being an inimitable dress designed by Sophie Wallace, a textile graduate who focuses on the manipulation of everyday plastic materials, and transforming them into exciting sculptural pieces for the body.

With a feast of green screen footage, it was time for dessert and a trip to The Grooviest House in Ireland. The king of this psychedelic castle is Ger Eaton a hairdresser, musician in his own right and gracious host. Discovered through an article in Journal.ie this location provides an embarrassment of riches when it comes to back drops. This consensus is reinforced by the fact the house is a finalist on this year's 'RTE's Home Of The Year'. And Dana looks right at home fretting her guitar in front of a giant Rolling Stones logo or lounging like a pin up in a Pulp Fiction boudoir.

Released on the 1st June, 'Erase It' dares you not to hum it on your away to work. And the video begs a rewatch just to absorb each radiant vintage inflection. Keep your eye out for I'm Your Vinyl because the needle has definitely been set down for them to paint this decade black.
